Sending tracking numbers with Drupal Commerce

I was in search of an easy way to send a tracking number to a customer who purchased something from a Drupal Commerce store. After unsuccessfully searching around for a module to accomplish this task I turned to the rules module. In the flow I detail below, we are going to build a rule that fires when a commerce order status is updated to completed. Before we can send a tracking # we need to have a number associated with an order.

Using Computed Fields to Combine Exposed Filters

I recently created a view(on a Drupal 6 site) for a client that wanted to be able to search his node results. Part of the requirement was that the search results only show results from this particular view. His 'search' sounded just like an exposed views filter. The search was to be against 5 fields that included: any taxonomy terms the node was tagged with, city, state and zip from it's address field and the title of the node. I created my view and exposed the filters on top with a styled the 'search' form and presented it to the client. It looked good but I knew there were too many fields.

First Drupal Patch and CORE commit!

I've been using Drupal to create really cool websites for the past few years and decided that it's finally time to stop being selfish and try and contribute back to the project and community. The first task I chose was part of that HTML5 initiative for Drupal 8 and it regarded cleaning up the CSS for the core aggregator module.

DrupalCamp CT 2011

Drupal Camp CT was a great time again this year. There were a ton of cool people to meet and John Zavocki killed it with his margin to center talk. I was able to present a talk on the basics of a Drupal theme. During the talk we discussed the anatomy of a Drupal theme and we did a live demo. We took a static HTML site and turned it into a very basic Drupal 7 Theme. My slides are up on slideshare.net if you'd like to take a look.

Adding zebra classes to Drupal 6 search results

Drupal 6 search results lack the odd class we've come to expect when creating a style for every other row in a list. Drupal 6 search results give us a plain definition list inside of a row. Using the template.php file and the search-results.tpl.php files in our theme, we can add an even:odd class to each wrapping row.

Trans Am hood FINALLY got painted!

I've been wanting to get the WS6 hood for my 2000 Trans Am for a long time now. I finally bit the bullet and purchased a hood from some guy in New York last fall through LS1Tech.com. After a cursory inspection of the hood, I brought it home and was test fitting with my little brother when we discovered something I had missed when inspecting the hood.
